Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

1n-5w is getting very active again. Continental seems hot to trot on that township the last few months. That usually means good offers to follow from 3rd parties as well.

Does anyone know about anything going on around Section 6-1N-5W? My mother’s Offer to Lease is coming up to expire and getting lots of letters. Don’t know if there is any drilling going on down there. Can’t see from Oklahoma City and too dumb to know. lol!!

A nice surprise in my email just now; a voucher for 5 months production on a well called Renea (wonder who that was) in Sec. 23, 1N 5W. I didn’t even know they had drilled. Not a huge amount but grateful for whatever.

Drilling and spacing sets the areal extent for the drainage for a well in a certain reservoir(s). Pooling sets the bonus and royalty pairs. Completely different cases. You have to respond to the pooling order within 20 days (not business days) or you will get the worst of the options.

I just received an order from the OK Corporation Commission establishing drilling and spacing on S6 T1S R4W for Continental. Is this the same as Pooling? I have an unsigned lease offering $1,000/nma bonus at 3/16 royalty.

I have tiny interests in S3, S4, S9 and 12 in T1S R5W. I have several offers on my interests there, both to lease and to buy. It appears that exploration is proceeding southward from T1N R5W into the north edges of T1S R5W. Is this correct?

It’s 12:30 am central and I’m in the eye of Hurricane Nate. Haven’t lost power. This is the first time I’ve been the eye. Been in the eye wall of Camille 1969 Elena 1985 Georges 1998 and Katrina 2005.

Hang in there Joseph…Put your hurricane saddle on that storm and ride it out. Sounds like you are a seasoned veteran on hurricanes…Take care.

Oh no - Joseph it now looks like a Cat. 2 coming at you. Be safe. Go visit your Oklahoma property! We Floridians and my Texas family will be watching and hoping you don’t get what we did. I read the surge and high tide will occur together, which is extremely dangerous.

Huey Paxton - anything new in 16- 2N 5W? I had given up hope, but they are close again.

Diane,

If you are getting offers, then there is interest from the investors for the future. No new permits or OCC hearings in 8 or 17. 23 has a new Woodford well planned and 25 has a new Woodford well planned so that is encouraging. That is the Renea well mentioned below.

John,

That doesn’t sound right. Does not mean that it’s not though. I haven’t seen the actual order, but they posted the bonus numbers on OCC recently. Ironically I had just looked it up in the last 30 minutes or so to see if the order was posted. $1750 3/16, $1500 1/5, $500 1/4 is what it shows for all zones. I leased earlier this year.

Thanks Barbara, I’m all boarded up and ready for Nate. I’m about 70 ft above sea level so no worries about the surge or flooding.

Thanks, M Barnes and Rick. How do I do the shopping, Rick?

I sure didn’t read John’s post correctly…

John, the pooling will give more than your lease offers is. Start shopping quickly, though. There may be some 3rd parties that will be interested at higher rates.

One other highlight from SCOOP Woodford I’d like to mention is the Vanarkel density pilot. The Vanarkel is our third density pilot to be completed in the condensate fairway. The other two included the 10-well Poteet and Honeycutt pilots. The Poteet has been producing for about 350 days, the Honeycutt approximately 250 days, and the Vanarkel almost 70 days. The key point I want to make is that all wells and the pilots continue to produce at rates above our type curve and to date have shown no signs of well interference. This is quite significant as it helps validate our vision for full field development. We currently have two additional density pilots underway including the eight-well Newy pilot that is completing right now, and the 10-well Sympson pilot that is drilling.

and from Wiki:
Differential-pressure pipe sticking occurs when a portion of the drillstring becomes embedded in a mudcake (an impermeable film of fine solids) that forms on the wall of a permeable formation during drilling. If the mud pressure, pm , which acts on the outside wall of the pipe, is greater than the formation-fluid pressure, pff , which generally is the case (with the exception of underbalanced drilling), then the pipe is said to be differentially stuck (see Fig. 10.1). The differential pressure acting on the portion of the drillpipe that is embedded in the mudcake can be expressed as:

ā€œa pilotā€ā€” although normally we like differential pressure

Thanks M Barnes…one (and probably all) of the people that wanted to purchase was aware of the fault through part of 34. I’m thinking that the map I looked at which showed the fault showed it only running along the east edge but don’t remember for sure. Just remember thinking there was lots of room for other wells. We are getting a pretty good little check for that smiggen they drilled into 34 probably we have nearly 20 acres and because we leased at 1/5th the last time. Still hoping for more but thankful for what we have!

Had some interest in purchasing 34 2n4w again. Anyone know of anything in the future?

Linda, Newfield did a lot of leasing in late 2016 in 34 and then the Mark well was drilled and came up short. I suspect someone is hopeful there will be future drilling. Nothing on the docket at the moment.

Has anyone received a lease bonus offer in S6-1N-4W lately? I just leased rights in S31-2N-4W this June for $2,400 & 3/16, 3 yrs.

Joe, that sounds really promising to get a lease for that much money lately. Like you I am interested in whether anyone has leased in the sections south of our 34 2n 4w which I believe is 3 1n 4w. Anyone?

Linda, my map also has a fault on the east side and plenty of room for wells on the west side of 34.
