Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

The climate is constantly “changing.” You’ve all heard about the increase of Katrina-type storms? Well, being a native of Biloxi, Mississippi, we have over 300 years of statistics on the hurricanes that impact the Biloxi area, founded in 1699 by Sir Pierre LeMoyne D’Iberville. We average a Category 1 to Category 3 storm every 7-8 years and Category 4-5 storm every 30-40 years from 1699 to the present. How many years between Camille August 17, 1969, a Category 5 with over 200 mph winds, and Katrina August 29, 2005, with 145 mph winds at landfall? 36 years. The storms in between? Frederick 1979, Elena 1985, and Georges 1998. The big storm before Camille? The 1947 storm. One year in the 1860s the Mississippi Gulf Coast was hit by 3 storms in one season; I’d have to look up the year but it was during the War of Northern Aggression.

Thank you, Vicki!

I am also a royalty owner who believes the science that proves greenhouse gases cause global warming. Just because I inherited mineral rights doesn’t mean that I must deny reality. Remember, Mother Nature bats last.

That’s no excuse you old fossil!

I hope you’re right, Jennifer!

D.R., could it be that you mistakenly logged on to the wrong forum? I’m not certain you’ll find a following on this one.

Not a believer in “Mother Nature” but only God the Father, and it was told in the Bible thousands of years ago that in the end times there would be earthquakes in various places, wars and rumors of wars, and men would be lovers of men, etc. It also says that Christians should not worry about all these things because they are only “the beginning of labor pains” for the world. Why are scientists acting like this is a new thing? Beats me! Sorry, it wasn’t my day to preach; I just got carried away.

Back to the subject of mineral rights… in the Oklahoman yesterday, the intent to drill the Sympson wells #2-6 (I believe) in Section 6, Township 2N, Range 4W. I lost the article, but I believe it said they would be drilled there. That’s close anyway.

The Sympson wells are being drilled by Continental. I’m so glad to see there is still interest in drilling in our area even though oil has dropped low… especially by Continental with all the losses they have taken lately. I believe they are still a very strong company.

So nice to see some fun chatter again! Maybe it is the sign that things are about to turn around! What goes up must go down and what goes down will eventually go back up! Maybe, just maybe, we’ve hit bottom…!

Me too Jen

Well, look what I started, My whole intent was to bring about the awareness that some do not know, that the ban on exports has not had a final ruling.

The post below of mine is only part of a post from the Huffington Post.

I did not post the link to the article as I did not want the HP to have a bunch of hits on a article that is written by an other type of extremest, a environmentalist.

Here is the link for all to read the entire post.

I’m a mineral owner, I do believe that all industries do pollute to some extent, but I do believe that the Oil and Gas industry is NOT the worst offender. China and India Industries, to me are the worst, but it has to start some where. So I do believe something will come of the talks in Paris.

Please read the story.

DR

You got me on that Linda.

John, how many have they completed? Any news about Lowrance 2 well? Thanks for the info.

Lowrance 2 is completed. Vanarkle 2-7 are being completed. Should be getting tests on all these wells soon.

Any word on completion of Martin 1H-6X? API 137-27443-00

Joseph,

Haven’t heard or seen a word; they’ll probably say something about February or March when they have to.

Thanks Raymond.

Got some more offer to purchase letters from Bridgepoint (?) (I believe that’s the name) for Sections 34, 29, and 16 Township 2 North Range 4 West in Stephens County. They were the kinds where they say if we’re interested in them making us an offer let them know but no numbers mentioned in the letters. I believe the lease will be up again in February for Section 34 and the others would be held by production.
