Small acreage in Pool

We currently have a little over 9 acres of our property in a pool. The remainder (much larger) of our property is not pooled yet but I assume it will be. Question is;

Does this small portion we have, with the 9 acres, finalize the mineral lease. Will EOG have to drill on the larger tract to hold the lease or will the lease expire as of the date on the lease?

It will all depend on what your lease says. If you have a pugh clause that forces them to release any part that is not unitized before the lease expiration date.

If the lease covers all of the acreage, the activity/pooling will typically hold the entire lease, unless there is language (a Pugh clause) to the contrary, which excludes the un-pooled acreage.
