This well was permitted in 2018. Block 49 Section 35 Township 9 Laura Mackenzie. Was permitted to 13,000 feet but shows a depth of 2,000 on the RRC site. Wondering if it just didn’t work out and they moved on?
Looks like both the Laura McKenzie East and West laterals were only drilled to around 2000’ and set surface casing.
I am sure the plan was to come back with a bigger rig and drill the rest of the permitted well including the lateral.
Perhaps the operator (Battalion Oil) lost their funding and scrapped the project.

PS Note - these two wells have had formal completion forms filed - wells are NOT plugged. Very easy for Battalion Oil or any other operator to use these two wellbores to drill horizontal wells from this pad.

Thanks for both your posts. I have never run across this before and that is good information to know.
They also have 2 new permits in Block 48 Section 6 Township 9 that I’m hoping they complete.
Key to this play and its success will be how these laterals perform once they are frac’d and put on production.
Subsurface reservoir variability will impact the performance across the area - and production decline profile will be the factor that dictates which areas are economically viable vs those areas that are marginal to sub-economic.
