what does the term “shut in oil” mean when associated with a well? when I look at the Howard County map and find the wells that we are awaiting division orders on that term comes up?
It could mean several things. The well has the valves closed “shut in” until a gathering pipeline can be built (for gas well or an oil well that is new with enough associated gas that it needs a line), the well has mechanical trouble and needs to be fixed or the well is finished with its production and is waiting to be plugged. In your case, it looks like new wells that need a gas gathering line. You can call your operator and find out.
