Should I request Lessee sign the Lease?

I read that any lease worth anything should be signed by Lessee. How common is it for a Lessee to sign the Lease?

I have negotiated many leases in the past without the lessee's signature. It's your signature and notorization that is going to get the ball rolling on their recording the lease.

I always have an addendum and I require Lessee's signature on both lease and addendum. I always type in reference to the addendum on the lease.
