Shale Thickness

How thick is the productive shale layer in the Western Haynesville?

I think that is still being determined.

Comstock has drilled one set of stacked laterals in Leon County, the Deornellas PB A and PB B. The lateral for the PB A runs from 16,519 TVD down to 18,970. PB B runs from 15,594 down to 17,552.

Total depth covered by the two laterals is 15,594 to 18,970 which equals 3,376 feet.

Each of those wells tested at over 40,000 MCF in 24 hours. As of last month, the Enverus expected ultimate recovery was more than 20 BCF for each well.

Thank you. I had no idea. The only info I had seen was for the eastern Haynesville and it referenced 200-400 feet. Some of these units will need stacked laterals/multiple wells to effectively drain the enclosed shale volume, it would seem.

Alan, do you have any idea if after the success of Deornellas A&B if Comstock may drill additional laterals on some of the previous wells in Leon County.

I’m sure they will, but no way to know when. They are focused right now on getting all their acreage held by production.
