Hello. We were contacted by Seymour Investigations regarding mineral rights. Apparently, my husband’s great-great-aunt left them to her nieces and nephews and Mr. Seymour is now the administrator of the estate in Oklahoma.
The paralegal who contacted us will not give us the legal description or location of the property and just says we will get that when we receive notice of the hearing.
A couple of questions: Has anyone else dealt with this company? It appears they search unclaimed property and then manage to become the admins of it so they collect fees.
Is it possible for us to locate the land records on our own since they will not provide them? They did report that there are rights in Coal, McCurtain, and Pittsburg counties but refuse to provide more detailed information.

The personal representative would be entitled to a 2.5% fee for administering the estate. A “treasure hunter” would be entitled to a 25% fee according to Oklahoma. However, that treasure hunter’s fee might not be binding upon the other heirs like you.
