Seismic Survey-Anderson, Freestone, and Leon Counties

Seitel Data has begun seeking permits for a 210 square mile seismic survey that will include tracts in Anderson, Freestone, and Leon Counties. They’ve set up a website that provides information about the process:

My assumption is that the client is Expand. The schedule indicates that the survey will not be completed until November 2026. Now that Expand has finished drilling their first Western Haynesville well in Houston County, what will they do next?

Good. I’m smack dab in the middle.

I’ve posted before about a huge 3D shoot in about 2010-2012 done by PGS in the northwest area of Houston County. It was about 514 square mile area. It was a multi-client survey. Chesapeake, EOG, Anadarko, Devon and others. Also there were at least 5 deep vertical wells in the 20,000 to 22,500 ft. range. Anadarko and Chesapeake were the main two. In the early 1980’s Westland Oil and Gas drilled a couple as I remember.

Interesting. Seems like Expand lease map from previous topics on the forum appears to push further south and east of the area on the link.

The Expand lease area in northwest Houston County had a 3D seismic survey done in 2018. I’m sure that’s why they chose to drill their first well in that area. I think it’s likely that their next well will also be in that area.
