Sections 28-34-14N-17

I have a a few questions in regards to Case CD 2026-001470. Are they filing to combine Sections 28-33 into one unit, or are they filing to combine 27-28-33-34 into one unit?

“That Applicant requests that the Commission enter its order extending Order No. 754710 insofar as it established a 1,280-acre horizontal drilling and spacing unit for the Des Moines common source of supply underlying Sections 27 and 34, Township 14 North, Range 17 West, Custer County, Oklahoma to include Sections 28 and 33, Township 14 North, Range 17 West, Custer County, Oklahoma. The Des Moines common source of supply is a conventional reservoir and as such the completion interval for a horizontal well in a horizontal well unit shall be located not less than 660 feet from any boundary of the 1,280-acre horizontal unit.”

The hearing was scheduled for May 4. I couldn’t figure out if the hearing actually was held, and if it was, what the result might be. Thank you.

Each section in Oklahoma is 640 acres plus or minus. The sections along the north (1-6) and the sections along the west (6,7,18,19,30,31) sides of the township may be slightly different due to the curvature of the earth and the adjustments that the surveyors make.

For spacing purposes, the OCC will often space each section at 640. For some drilling units, they will combine one or more sections. In this case, they are combining “LEGAL DESCRIPTION: SECTIONS 28 AND 33, TOWNSHIP 14 NORTH, RANGE 17 WEST, CUSTER COUNTY, OKLAHOMA”

There is no order yet.

Anthem is probably planning a horizontal well in those two sections.

Anthem is currently drilling 27&34. Permit shows its going just on the west side of the half mile line. Stays 330" from the north and south section lines. Was spudded on March 27. They have been doing the legal work on 28&33. Both are 1280 acre units. Anthem has applied to drill lots of wells. Time will tell
