Section 1 2 n 4 w

I own minerals in Stephens County in 1 2N 4W. I signed a lease on 4-20-2012. It may be too soon to find out anything but I was just wondering if anybody has heard anything going on down there. Thank you.

Bobby,

There is an approved application from Newfield for location exception and spacing with the OCC. The pooling order was contested by Citation and dismissed 3 weeks ago. I’m just guessing that they will get it worked out and get another pooling request in. Newfield has 1 permit and 2-3 pooling requests approved in surrounding sections.

Rick,

I’m a little confused on this. The way I read it was Citation’s motion to produce documents was denied not that the application was dismissed. It wasn’t real clear to me the way it was worded.

Bobby,

I have answered you a couple of times. Make sure you click “Follow Discussion” so you get email notifications when other people post to the discussions. The main Stephens County Discussion page is the best place to post to get the most information from the group.

There is an excellent well about 4 miles southwest of your property. Who did you lease with? If it was Continental Resources they are likely to be obtaining other leases in the area. However, setting up a particular section for drilling is a long process in Oklahoma. It may take a year or more to complete that process. It will take six months to get a well down and fractured. The operating company can hold the income from your mineral interest for as long as six months before they begin to distribute the earnings to mineral owners.

Let’s hope it happens sooner in your case, but the above is a likely history of what will happen.

We leased with Newfield.

Don,

Newfield already has it pending in OCC for pooling, a few delays because of Citation having some kind of problem over it. The proposed well is the Campbell 1H-1, surface location 12-2N/4W, completion interval 1-2N/4W, 12,890’ TVD, 4,950’ lateral, 18,160’ TD.

Micheal, thanks, sounds like the process is started.

These people really fight over just a few acres. The rest of us just get to sit back and watch.

I remember 20 years ago in what was the Cotton Valley Pinnacle Reef play in northeast Texas. This literally happened. The wife was in the living room signing a lease with one company and the husband was in the back yard signing a lease for their acreage with another company. Both got checks and they cashed both. When the companies filed for record and discovered the situation a very large court fight began. However, the couple did not give back any of the double lease bonus paid to them.

Mike,

After going to the OCC site and reading the documents, I think you are correct. The information I was looking at terminated the complete application based on the dismissal of the motion.

Michael, I am replying to your post on Monday. I don’t know what you mean on a completion interval 1-2N/4W, 12890 TVD, 4950 lateral 18160 TD. If you don’t mind telling me what that means. Sorry I don’t know much about this. Thank you.

This is Christina Farnsworth, Bobby’s wife. I own the minerals we are talking about.

Bobby and Christina,

The 12,890 ft. is the total vertical depth, in other words the depth of the hole. The 4,950 ft lateral is the length of the horizontal or completion interval. The two added together plus the number of feet it takes to turn the hole from vertical to horizontal is the total depth of 18,160 feet. Picture a hole drilled in the ground for almost 3 miles down to reach the formation that contains the oil and gas and then straightens out and goes about one more mile. The straight part is where the minerals are produced from.

If you have more questions please post them on the Stephens County general discussion page in order for them to be seen by the most forum members.

Bobby, The OCC judge has recommended the approval of Newfield’s application for pooling. Once the order is issued they will probably apply for a drilling permit.
