Sec14 2S 4W

Can anyone tell me about any activity. There have been numerous producing wells come in on Sec 13 and Sec 16. I think Marathon is looking at drilling this Sec. Any news would be appreciated.

I’m still new at this, but on the OCC new well data base, there are tons of active wells. I’m not knowledgable enough to know which ones are the most recent. Hopefully all the great folks on this forum will have more info…

I have sec 12.6n.5w… We did all paper . And all court paper and still waitng …for some one drill??? Lease is. Up in march or April of next yr. Good luck…

The last week of August an Application to Drill, Recomplete, or Reenter was filed on the "Smarty Jones 2-14". http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/030629D7.pdf

And then they were issued a "Permit to Drill" on August 29, 2013 http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/1DD16DCF.pdf

And then the "Smarty Jones 2-14" was spud 9/4/2013 http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/03064328.pdf

On September 23, 2013 an Application to Drill, Recomplete, or Reenter was filed on the "Smarty Jones 1-14". http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/030649E2.pdf

And then they were issued a "Permit to Drill", also on September 23, 2013. http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/1DD177D5.pdf

Marathon is not the one drilling these two wells.

Completion report on the Smarty Jones 3-14 ... http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/1DD072AF.pdf

This well only has 40 acre spacing, so if your tract is not in that 40 acres, you don't get a piece of it. This is unlike the deep 640 acre spacing for gas or horizontal wells where everyone in the section gets their portion. Hope you have a part of it, although that was a lot of water in the completion report.

Thanks for the information. I was under the impression that Marathon was going deep to over 16,000 ft in Sec 14. Have you heard anything about that?

Marathon has not filed any applications on section 14 with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to date. Their name is also not popping up online for any filings with the Stephens County Clerk in 14-2S-4N. Doesn't mean nothing is going on. Just means they have not filed anything yet.

My limited experience with Marathon is that when they begin they move pretty fast with the filings and drilling. Not so fast with the royalty checks.

Last question..maybe. Does anyone know anything about Sec14 3S 4W. I have received an offer of $3250 to sell from Cana.

If I were you, I would not sell, but then I never do. The horizontal SCOOP drilling is moving that direction. Three horizontal wells are permitted in the section to the north in 2S 4W. If you are getting an offer that high, it is because Cana knows something about what is coming. First offers are usually lowball. Get informed about the SCOOP. Read the most recent investor presentations from Continental and Newfield. Hang in there for a while before making a decision.

I think Newfield hit fairly big (640bopd and 909bopd) in Sec13 and Sec16 according to the Tulsa World paper. Do you know if that is accurate?

I don't see any recent completions in 2S 4W by Newfield. There are quite a few in 2N 4W by Newfield. Citation is in 2S 4W with Continental moving in. Marathon is planning a well in 14-2N-8W and a few more in 2N-5W and 1N-5W.

Sec 13 2n 4w Newfield, Tulsa World said it was completed. Also Sec16 2n 4w was completed by Newfield. Is that correct.

http://www.occpermit.com/WellBrowse/Webforms/WellInformation.aspx?ID=577474 for 13

I think you confused me at first because your title at the top said 2S 4W, but you really meant 2N.

Hopefully these links work, but if not, go to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and you can look them up.

if Marathon is planning something in 1n-5w is that prob why I just received an offer to purchase for $3000 an acre in 1n-4w?

Probably so. Usually, the landmen hear the rumors and do their homework. Certain companies make it their business to try to buy mineral rights before some of the development drilling is done. They will generally offer much less than the land is worth in their first offer. Some of that lowball offer is to compensate for risk-both geologic (not much if first well already drilled), mechanical risk, economic risk, etc. The rest is just pure profit for them. Most of us on the forum will probably hang onto our minerals for our grandkids and hope that we see the benefits. Some companies are just fine and others are very sneaky in their wording and have quite a few complaints in many states. Approach with caution. I usually look on an offer to buy as good news that something is about to happen. Then I throw the offer in the trash.
