Saw this in the Oklahoman today

In in the intent to drill column.

McClain: BP America Production Co.; Parker 7N 2W 33 No. 3HX Well; SE1/4 SW1/4 SW1/4 SW1/4 (BHL) of 04-06N-02W; TD 17,600.

It is on land that I am leasing… What does the TD 17600 mean?

Thanks!

TD means total depth

Mike, The well is going to be a 1280 acre, m/l, unit comprised of Section 33-7N-2W and Section 4-6N-2W. The well will have a total drilled depth of 17,600’. Only from this, it appears as though this is the 3rd horizontal well drilled on this “unit” with the “3HX” designation.

Hope you get a good one.

Thank you… I’ve been getting money for the first one that was drilled in August of 2017, the second one was approved a couple of weeks ago… They have applied for 2 more in addition… 5 total…

Yep sure is and more of these kind of 2X and 3X units will appear. Some can go as high as 6X. Indicates good wells that need additional drilling to properly drain the two target sections and even including additional surrounding sections. All good news for royalty owners and of course BP or they would not be doing it. Cheaper than moving rig around since they can drill from same pad location.
