We have minerals in Township 31N; Range 59E; Section 31. We haven’t leased minerals in Sheridan County for over 10 years. Just curious what the current royalty percentage is for this area. An oil company currently has a drilling application on file with the Montana Oil & Gas Commission for our mineral area and we haven’t even been contacted for leasing. I’m sure we will be contacted in the near future regarding leasing.

Don’t see any new leases in 31N-59E. I see one in 31N-58E at 1/8th (12.5%) (last 24 months). How old is that permit?

I just leased about 400 acres in Roosevelt County just south of this area, just across the county line and I leased it back in 2023 on a 3/2 lease. The royalty was 16% but this is a different county which has far less activity. Last time I leased Sheridan County was 2009 and a lot has changed. Thanks for your assistance in this manner. These companies are targeting both the Bakken and Three Forks. Over the years, the Three Forks has been somewhat untested. Just thought it was weird that an application would be submitted on a property that is not leased. Maybe things have changed.
