Royalty payments

My father was receiving payments at the time of his death, but the attorney handling everything did not take care of this for me. I had a title research done in 2007, and all the oil and gas companies I called refused to speak to me without representation after I sent them documents.

T&O 160 acres, Frank Hall Survey, Jefferson County, abstract 825, also abstract 642. The checks had originally gone to Agnes Hynes and after her death, went to my father, Joseph Kenneth Hynes. I am the only heir to my father and am trying to find out what other steps need to be taken to see where the oil companies were directed to send my father’s checks.

Did your father have a will? I am not an attorney but you need to establish the groundwork to prove your position in this matter. An “Affidavit of Death & Heirship” might suffice in your case. If you will google this, it provides step-by-step instructions. You will need to record it at the County Clerk’s office in the county where the death occurred. Good luck.
