Oil pumping for months. No check $ to me til this week. Check is 1/10 amount I calculated. It calculates correctly for one month… I called the Oil Co & was told that recently more people had been pooled and this reduced my monthly amount. Division Order had my decimal % correct. Why the huge discrepancy, does anyone know? There was a check voucher listing monthly bbls, gross sales, oil prices, my decimal interest, which was correct, and net sales and last column-owner amount. All calculated correctly. However on the next line the figures in each column exactly the same EXCEPT all negative figures. I sure don’t understand. This isn’t a lot of money but out is over 10K. Many operator's accounting systems allow for post production adjustments to sales by reversing out the original month's pre-adcustment calculations in total then putting the corrected amounts on the line below or above in the adjusted month's totals. For example, the Btu adjustment for gas may not be known when payment is made and will be adjusted up or down after the pipeline samples are tested. Delivery specifications for oil sales contracts will also be adjusted after the fact. For a small interest, the adjustment month to month may not be larger than one cent. Operator's A/P computers don't know the difference.
thank you so much for your response. I understand what you have said however this does not really addressed this most unusual check voucher and its numbers. this is not your fault. It is my inability to explain what actually is on this voucher, covering a 14 month timeframe. I understand the adjustments that you are speaking of, however this is very different than a nything I have ever seen. I would be happy to send you a copy of 1 of the pages, however my computer is at the shop and I have been unable to capture it clearly on my cellphone’s camera. I will hand write 1 section of this and then try to take the picture and forward it to you in my next comment. in the meantime, just know that I do appreciate your interest in my question. Pam

If there is a county or shale group for your area, you might try posting this there in case there are other members who received the same type of check from the operator. You might find more help that way.
