Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Thanks for the info - I am about 6 miles southwest of Pecos - Block C8 - Section 25. I can’t really tell from the outdated GIS map what is happening around that area - if any of you oil super gurus can tell me how much has been recently drilled in the Wolfbone trend in that area - that would also be a good thing to know (for me anyway)… again.. thanks in advance.

And I say “outdated” - because the TRR GIS map seems pretty dang slow compared to reality of what is actually being completed.

==> … about 6 miles southwest of Pecos - Block C8 - Section 25. <==

Kreg – you’re more like 10-1/4 miles SW of (downtown) Pecos. Just a few completion reports in your area… although permitting is moving that direction. Eagle O&G (now Comstock Resources) has been drilling relatively close. In fact, Comstock recently permitted a location in PSL C-9, Section 3, ~10.0 miles SW of Pecos… about 4 miles NW of you.

Yes, Devon has two HZ wells permitted to the southeast in the next section (Section 10 in 55, Township 4).

It will be oil. No idea if it has been drilled yet though.

Mike looks like activity south a mile or so and to your southwest looks like a well was permitted.

fyi…we have several sections south of Pecos, about 20 miles…with CWE. They have a rig on one section and were surveying a second section in December.

==> … how many Wolfbone trend sites have been drilled so far. <==

Kreg – in the last 3 months there have been a couple dozen announced Wolfbone (Trend Area) completions by J. Cleo Tompson, Clayton Williams, ExL, Patriot Resources and Eagle O&G.

Clarification…60 drilling permits in January in Reeves County alone!

Buzz the lost hole is the third direct offset to some of my acreage…set to be drilled in July I am told (Section 258 ten miles south of Pecos).

First time write in, live in California.

Was contacted by Clayton Williams E last May of 2011 regarding

Section 10 Block 54 in Reeves County, own 68 acres mineral rights there.

Haven’t heard anything since then? What to do? Is there drilling going on there?

==> Is there some kind of a map on Google or the internet where Section 10 block 54 could be shown… <==

Goezt – might you have the Abstract Number, i.e., A-???, or A-???.

Hi Scott

The only info I have is Section and Block#

did not get Township # from them. Is there a way to pinpoint that?

Goetz

Goetz-- If you signed a Lease with CWEI the property info will be at the top of the page. It may also be on a cover letter or correspondence from them.

Scott B.

go to rrc then maps then gis map viewer then survey/abstract then on next page enter Reeves County and block and sec number

Hi Scott

Here is an excerpt from the first e-mail from CWE

<he acquired all of the surface and a portion of the minerals in the west half of Section 10, Block 54, Reeves County, Texas.>

My attorney is in touch with them but they have not responded.

So I guess I wait till something happens. I am the legal owner of that tract.

Goetz

My family owns a lot of land in Reeves and only some of it has a Township designation, so you may be looking for something that isn’t there.

Hi David

That makes sense

Is there some kind of a map on Google or the internet where Section 10 block 54 could be shown

Geotz

In January there were 62 “entries” in the RRC Permits site which was the most that I have seen in the last three years.

Guess what, February had 64 “entries”.

Reeves County is on fire.

My one concern is that Anadarko permitted zero wells and as I have 4 tracts leased with them, that is disappointing.

I’m also hearing that Petrohawk has wells shut in waiting on pipelines. Reeves County is being stressed from an infrastructure standpoint.

Where is the Anderson Ranch, please?

South of Orla?

Stephen, I’m with ya. I also lease my acres to Anadarko – have for many years – and this year’s new lease paid a bonus of $1500 an acre … but they sure don’t seem anxious to drill. My acres are on Anderson Ranch on the map and there’s a well in that section that’s been completed, capped and re-completed in the past. What do you suppose is Anadarko’s reason for holding back on wells? I signed the lease in July and I’ve already gotten three offers to buy me out, but there’s no way I’d sell right now. I sure would like to see Anadarko’s name on a darn permit, though.
