Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

My dad’s hearing is awful and I dont think understands what they are telling him. He tells me that they they’re saying they are running tests on the well. Im still new to all of this. Dont they run the tests first, then start pumping it? He also says they told him they’re making it a vertical well. What he has been telling doesnt make any sense at all. I told him their is nothing on the RRC that says anything about a vertical well. He says anytime he talks to someone and asks about production they just they are running tests and he should receive something soon. Its frustrating not knowing what they are telling him on the phone. A while back they said it was the pipeline holding it up. The RRC shows a gas line to the pad and a crude line crossing his property. He also said they told they are using tankers to move the oil and gas. None of what he is saying is making any sense. Thanks for the info

Cimarex Energy Reports 2013 Third Quarter Results

11-6-13

http://www.bizjournals.com/prnewswire/press_releases/2013/11/06/LA1…

In Reeves County, Texas, Cimarex has drilled and completed three gross (three net) horizontal Wolfcamp A wells. The most recent well was drilled and completed using a 10,000-foot lateral and had a first 30-day average gross production rate of 1,816 BOE per day (56 percent oil, 23 percent gas and 21 percent NGL). Cimarex currently has a second long lateral well drilling [ TEMPEST STATE 57-35 #1H, 389-33784, PSL BLK 57 SEC 35, 17.1 miles SW of Mentone or 19.4 miles SSE of Orla ] and two wells waiting on completion in Reeves County. Reads as if the wealth of the Delaware Basin is the incentive to further advance the technology of three dimensional imaging in geology.

Enormous amounts of oil, varying rock texture, porosity, intermittent impermeable shale caps/lenses, debris fields from ancient underwater ravine flows, oil migrated from squeezed out source rock along natural fractures or forced into more permeable rock, while adjacent source rock still holds original oil.

And disrupted uniformity across depositional area. So just because it is like so at A, B, D, F, and I doesn’t mean it will be so at C, E, and G.

But with amounts of oil in place of 400 to 500 million BOE per section,

the lure is there.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the Wolfcamp play in Reeves only got going in February. Two years from now the companies will be so much further along with density pattern efficiencies along with drilling and fracking technology. As such, if there is around 400 million barrels of oil in place per section, recoveries will go from 3 or 4 percent to maybe over 5 percent. Just imagine 8-10 percent! All we need is an oil price over $85 and some new pipelines to the gulf coast…and time!

Thanks George. I’ll need to look into this further and call the county. maybe the county clerk did not understand my question.

Fred- just talk to my dad and he said he has to split the lease bonus.

I would be shocked if you couldn’t get $2,500.

Good read. Later – Buzz

Wolfcamp C Bench Entices Operators To The Southern Delaware Basin

For George Smith,

on your dad’s property, I understood from talking to a Reeves Cty employee in the courthouse that lease money does not need to be split with the county if it is from PSL lands. I do know that production payments do get shared with the county/state. Hope the county employee was right.

Appreciate a confirmation. I own property about 10 miles SW of you.

Fred- the last 2 leases he has signed he split with the state as far as I know. Ill ask him tomorrow to be sure.

Thanks, Buzz! Any idea what bonus prices are around A-5873, or 10.5 miles SSE of Pecos these days?

Wade- the lease just says state on it when it comes to splitting the bonus. no county language at all.

ANYTHING EXCITING GOING ON IN VICINITY OF A-5873? Thanks!

I think he’s splitting the bonus with the state. Never heard of splitting with the county. Also, please give a description of survey, block and section of the abstract you mentioned. Thanks

Wade, were you asking me about the $2,500/nma or Stephen Long, re A-5873, T&P 51 T7S Sec 8?

Either one of you

Wade – you mentioned Pioneer (Natural Resources) as possibly leasing in Reeves… if so, that would be big, IMO. Later – Buzz

Linton – yes, LOTS! You being 10.5 miles SSE of Pecos. Later – Buzz

just looked up that abstract number. T&P 51T7 sec 8. we have acreage in sec 42 of that same block that we leased to Clayton Williams. Primary term expiration is this coming February. I too would like to know what’s going on in case they don’t exercise their option. Is Pioneer/ J Cleo leasing this area or who? what makes you think you can get $2500 being this far south?

If I am overly optimistic, my apologies. Never hurts to start high, though. Good luck.
