Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Yes, thanks Kerry, interesting article. Per RRC, there is suppose to be a pipeline (under construction) for either gas, oil, both through or very close to our lease in section 64,block 4 NW Pecos. I have heard this area mentioned in the pipeline discussion so not sure it is related?

Thanks, Buzz

Based on the February production reports, it looks like Petrohawk has some wells NW of Pecos that were shut in, now producing. Perhaps the new gathering lines in the area are now operational. Good news for all in the area!

Paul – at long last! FINALLY… good to hear. Later – Buzz

Maybe that means they will do a bit more drilling NW of Pecos.

Speaking of NW of Pecos…seems like some of the step out wells had marginal results. I wonder what the philosophy is now? This is relevant to us as our Anadarko leases are up in the next 6 months. I still wonder why vertical drilling isn’t being used???

Reviewing the RRC data, there are 28 horizontal wells in Reeves Co with Petrohawk as the operator with the vast majority (27 of 28) of these being classified as gas. As of today, of the 28 wells only 4 have a G5 filing. The G5 avg of those 4 is 2,817 mcf and 284 bbl per the 24 hour test. I’ll take those results any day as an operator or lessor. I will also admit that past performance is no indicator of the future. Didn’t query other producers since we are with Petrohawk, so findings could be skewed if other producers were included.

Interesting information Paul about mostly gas action. It seems G5 means an active well? What would be the “status” for a newly spudded well? Do you have leases in NW Reeves Co?

All of these PH wells were classified as “shut in” when the G1 was filed. Our property is 7.5 miles NW of Pecos and currently has one horizontal well.

Paul, our lease is 8 miles west/northwest of Pecos… are we close? Is there somewhere to refer to better understand the language you are using regarding shut in and and G1-5? Thanks…still difficult for us to find out the status of the permit related to the lease for 2 horizontal wells.

Marian, we are in section 31 just to the NW of you. A year ago I knew very little about O&G. Most of my knowledge has come from this forum or searching on the RRC site.

I’m in 16 and 32. Lease is up in October…if anyone has leased recently in that area would love to know what the going rate is. Is $1500 in the ballpark?

Stephen – I’m thinking $2K+/ac in your area. Later – Buzz

We have has our three tracts NW of Pecos leased to Chesapeake and now Anadarko. $2k/acre would be nice for sure, but like all here, anxious to see some wells drilled and done so successfully. Seems like Energen has had poor results NW of Pecos, while PetroHawk I suspect have done better.

how close is this to blk 55, twp 4, sec 8?

Louise

Thanks Paul…so the RRC site would provide info on the “G” status? any Specific link? Our lease is in Block 4 Section 64

Thanks Marian, I will look try to look it up to see if I am in your neighborhood.

Thanks to Stephen and Buzz too, they are great help…

Louise

COG got a permit 8/2011 for the Ike State 25 horizontal, in Sec. 25, Blk C-7, PSL. It’s right by County Road 114, on the West side, and in the Toyah Lake Bed. Anybody know what’s going on with it?
