“Continuing Operations” language can also be important for after a well has been drilled to keep the operator busy drilling additional wells on the property (so that they don’t drill one well and hold the lease for several years without further development). Goes along with the Pugh Clause language delineating horizontal and vertical restrictions. Ideally not letting the operator have more than 18 months to do an additional well(s).
Question regarding rig data - does Red Willow have any active rigs?
Today we got a royalty check for Dec 2013. Our well has been shut in for a few months. We got royalty checks for Jan Feb March of this year. Any idea why we got a Dec check now? Thanks
Imoorhead - Red Willow Production LLC permitting activity: 13 New Drills; 2 Recompletions from 10-25-11 thru 7-11-14.
FWIW, perhaps by coincidence or thru a joint venture with Red Willow… COG Operating LLC permitted 8 wells named ‘Red Willow #xxx’ from 6-28-13 thru 8-12-14. The COG ‘Red Willow’ wells are located ~25 miles S/SE/SW of Pecos.

After BHP bailed on its acreage to the southwest in Reeves, every well drilled near that region should be interesting to say the least. Hopefully BHP will be proved wrong.
Just wondering if J Cleo Thompson had commenced drilling in the three Sections they have permitted in Block 50 Township 8 south of Pecos.
It was BHP
Imoorhead – the latest well Rig Data shows Red Willow itself drilling in Reeves County was the last well they permitted: COPPERHEAD 23 #1H, BLK C9 SECTION 23, A5420, 389-34383, 9.1 miles SSW of Pecos. Drilling was apparently completed w/e 9-5-14. Later – Buzz
I received an aerial photo of a rig under water, supposedly near Orla. I wonder if anyone knows if any of the rigs on the State Caldwell 57-T2-26 wells being drilled are the ones that got flooded. Thanks.
Wade, I have a good friend that lives near Orla and I asked him your question. If you get a chance, let me know exactly where that is. Thanks. Linton
Linton – in case Wade is away… T&P 57 Township 2 Range 26, A-2061 is 1.6 miles SW of Orla. Later – Buzz
Wade, my friend says he just got back from Orla, first time in a week he’s been able to get there. He said the odds are that wells 1.6 miles SW of Orla were under water but should be drying.
Just heard about the flooding in Pecos, Texas. Anyone heard if wells are underwater south of Pecos, especially, Block 50, Township 7S?
Hey, thanks a bunch, Buzz, appreciate it!
Billy – J. Cleo is currently running 3 rigs in T&P Block 50 Township 8 South; 2 rigs in Section 11 and 1 in Section 37. Later – Buzz
The pics are a road off Hwy 285 that runs along the north side of PSL Block C-21 about 25 miles northwest of Pecos.
