Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Commercial wells are big business these days and many times make more money for the operator than a producing well. They can result in a constant day and night stream of trucks going in and out. If it was on my property, I would ask for a working interest.

John,

I do get paid for the freshwater as well as disposing/injecting water, and the skim oil. Three different streams of revenue. Doing the numbers on even an average well is pretty lucrative !!!

MSA --thanks for that short and sweet explanation. Later – Buzz

Make that ‘M.A.’…

Mary – that’s very good to know… can you further describe the area of interest… ‘approximately 20 sections of land NNW of Toyah’. Thanks In Advance – Later – Buzz

Buzz, looks to involve mostly PSL Block 70, Sections 2,3,4,21,22,23,26,27,28,34,35,58 and 59. And it is proposed, not in effect.

Jennifer,

Go to the website for the Texas General Land Office, GIS maps at the GLO.

Your land is in Section 238 located within Block 13.

It is about 24 miles south of Pecos and about 6miles east of the bend in Highway 17, the bend being just north of Saragosa.

The section 238 is between Section 223 A-(A for Abstract)309 and Section 291 A-334. 223 being to west and 291 to the east.

Block 13 is the large odd looking Block, kinda like an outline of a skyscraper, tilted toward the left, that is south of Pecos.

Hi, I’m new here. While dealing with a landman for an inheritance of mineral rights in Cochran County, I found out about mineral rights in Reeves County that he was not dealing with. I have a copy of the mineral deed describing the land but have no idea where it is, how to look it up, or if there is any activity on/near it. It says, “the North one half of the North one half and the East one third of the South three fourths of Section 238, Block 13, cert no 7/1321” Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

whoops, tilted toward the right.

Jennifer, your Reeves acreage should be prospective as there is quite a bit of successful activity nearby.

Ok Jennifer. Just by looking up under search tools at the GIS Maps at the GLO when I got down to Section 238 of Block 13.

The County and Abstract Search in which I typed in Reeves County, Abstract Number 5564

This is what came back

certificat 7/1321

160 acres

the East 1/3 of So 3/4

so, apparently, your description is of the forty acres of the north end of the 160 acres within Abstract 5564.

Jennifer,

Zoomed in GIS Map of Reeves County Block 13/Section 238:

Thank you for the info. I still don’t know what it means for me as my share will have been divided multiple times before me. I only knew about any of it through the landman who did the research on the Cochran property. I wish I owned all of it with those numbers!

Yes Jennifer just sit back and wait. They are coming your way. In Block 1 which is to the east of your Section 238 are numerous Horizontal wells that have been completed. To the S/E about 1 1/2 miles in Section 305 is well # API 389-33638. Completion Report shows 564 BOPD(Barrel oil per day)/697,000 Cubic feet of gas per day. Zoomed out GIS Map of your area and to the East:

Be patient…

Clayton Williams just notified me that he is paying for the two year option on are acreage in Sect 300 to your NE. You might call their land department in Midland and ask if they are interested.

Possibly 40 acres of a stacked oil field that has a column of different oil bearing strata from 1200’ to 3500’ in thickness (when one adds up all the feet of thickness of each oil (and gas) bearing part of the different rock layers.

A potential payout of royalties per acre over the lifetime of production (100 years?) of at least $150,000. That is, conservatively, adding all the royalties over the years.

I suspect it is a lot more.

Have fun.

PS I am jealous.

Jennifer,

This is what I come up with for Reeves County Section 238/Block 13. Section 238 consists of 4 Abstract numbers(A-5514, A-4281, A-4282 and A-5564:

So, do I sit back and hope a landman contacts me about this land someday?

Mary – thanks for the info on the microseismic sections. Very interesting… even though it’s not a done deal. Later – Buzz

Mary – this well test may be associated with subject microseismic survey: CR3 OPERATING COMPANY, LLC received a permit on 8-12-14 for their C. J. LEE STATE 27 #1H; surface hole location PSL BLK 70 SEC 31, 389-34440, A-5010, 2.7 mile NW of Toyah; approximate 8,000-foot lateral extending north from SEC 31 thru SEC 27 with bottom hole location ending in SEC 22.
