Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Sorry, Liz, I sure did!

Scotsy – making sure we’re on the same section, are the N & S sections you refer to Abstract Numbers A-1757 & A-5764, about 6 miles SE of Toyah? The reason I ask is on my ownership map, I’m showing Clayton Williams having a lease expiring 10-10-2014 on the N half and 9-1-2014 on the S half. Do you own the surface on either half? Later – Buzz

Scotsy – that would also put Section 2 about 16.3 SW of Pecos. Later – Buzz

Buzz, if you ever have a chance, would you tell me if you can find any current leases on the following in Reeves County? BLK C-8, SEC 26, A-2112 A-3323 A-1728 A-5457 A-5456 A-3182 And BLK 51, SEC 8, A-5873 The reason I ask, I had a letter last week from some outfit saying mine was leased by CW, also, and I have no such lease in my records!

I wonder if it is possible for CW to be paying someone to put down that they are leasing so it will look like the land isn’t available. That would keep other companies from getting in touch for a good amount of time. If Linton’s hearing this about his land also it sounds a bit too coincidental to me!

Know what you mean, Buzz, out of my league, too! Appreciate it anyway. Linton

Linton, since I was just contacted by CW to lease on Tues. & told I was the only heir that could be found I don’t know how CW could have leased anything having to do w/ my N.Sec. I am really curious about this! What do you mean by flipped?

Thanks Linton! No problem.

We signed a lease 60 days ago April 16th. no bonus payment as of yet. talked to the land man and just keep getting excuses . the lease went from one landman to another I do know that. What’s up with all the delay . Any ideas. Have you ever waited that long for payment?

thanks

Phyllis, when you signed the lease, you should have received at worst a 30 draft to be deposited in your bank. At that time they would have 30 days to do their title due diligence and then fund the lease bonus.

The second 3/2 lease on sec 26 was with KEW

The abstract number on the S/4 of sec 21, Blk C-8 is A-3323.

Like Linton, my wife has minerals in the s/4 of sec 26, Blk C-8. There was a 3/2 lease on it with Petro-Hun from 2005 to 2010. This was followed with a 3/2 lease on it from 2011 to Feb 2014. The two year extension was not executed. The minerals are not presently leased. So, I am confused when Linton says that she received a letter saying, unbeknownst to her, that her minerals in sec 26 were leased by CW. What is going on and how do we settle it? Donny

Linton/Scotsy,

Regarding the Midland Map stating that there is a current lease on your land…it only takes one lease for a label to put on that tract. Although the landman told you that you were the only heir, unfortunately he may not be aware of work another landman did, or he could be lying (for what reason, I’m not sure). Midland Map company get’s their information from the county records. It would not be possible for Clayton to overstate his leasehold without filing fraudulent leases.

Thanks, Mike, I don’t have access to my records right now as I’m out of town, but I think my point was you need to take what you get in the mail with a grain of salt; I originally signed with KEW and my lease was then flipped to someone else and I didn’t know it was Clayton. I’m sure CW is not filing fraudulent leases. Linton

Thanks Mike! I was thinking that could be possible since I recently found out 1 of the heirs sold her mineral rights not too long ago.

I am wondering if anyone would have any suggestions about where I might find current satellite photos of Reeves County?

The RRC site is not depicting all the wells, they are probably a little overwhelmed by all the activity.

Any ideas, suggestions?

It is difficult to get recent satellite imagery, but Google Earth or even Mapquest.com (satellite view ) on your computer is your best bet. These two appear to be updated every couple of years, but they suffices for most purposes. Donny

Google Earth appears to be updated as of March 2014, at least in the southern area of Reeves near Pecos County.

I have a company that is fixing to drill an injection well to sale brine water behind my property. The company needs to go through my land to get to theirs. I’m interested in sharing. How do I approach this opportunity?
