I have mineral interest in well in Reeves County and had to file Affidavit of Heirship two different times, one about 2-3 months ago and one 3 weeks ago. I haven’t received any copies of filing back yet and was wondering if anyone has any experience as to how long this should take to be filed. I’ve heard that courthouse is a disaster and might take 3-4 months. Thanks in advance for any insight.
Hi Stan, it is definitely a very busy place these days. I have had it anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months in the past year or so. If it is ever really important for me to have a copy I either take it out there myself or hire a landman to walk it through for me.
I hope this helps.
I had to file an Affidavit of Identities at the Reeves County Courthouse in April of this year. It took 5 days for it to be recorded. They even faxed me a copy of the document recording with stamp on it. I received in the mail documents about 10 days later. Call them and ask them what’s the issue, they were very helpful when we needed them. Good luck!
I’ve filed numerous Affidavits of Heirship with Reeves County and all were returned US Mail within 10 days or less. However, after the first one I began inserting a note asking them to email me a copy of the “filed and stamped” copy once it was processed and I got each one back within 3 to 5 days of mailing the original to them - the last couple were within the last month.
