I just recently learned that I had mineral right to a section in Hale County Texas and signed a ratification of oil and gas lease. My sister refuses to sign the ratification. How will this affect my interests, if any? Are they still able to drill the area if she refuses to sign?
Dear Ms Egigian,
Your sister's refusal to sign could possibly affect the profitability of a venture. BUT, it is not likely. They will do their best to not have the sunk funds of leasing go to waste. From what your question posed, I will go out on a limb and guess that what you and your sister own is a non-participating royalty interest. If that is the case, your sister could be put in a position where she receives nothing from a well being drilled.
