Quiet Title Action

I am trying to settle title requirements for mineral rights inherited in Lea County, New Mexico. Does anyone know about the average costs and time frame we are looking at? I am not from the area either.

Unfortunately, this question can’t be answered without a lot of additional facts. It’s a little like my car won’t run. How much will it cost to fix? Depends on what is wrong with it. A quiet title suit may be as a result of somebody who died and had a confusing estate. It could also be necessary because of 70 years of deeds and ambiguous granting clauses or descriptions. We would need to know a lot more.

I inherited mineral rights in Lea County, New Mexico, from my grandmother. She inherited these from my grandfather; he inherited these in 1940. Grandmother did not do probate when grandfather passed. Probate was done in Texas when grandmother passed. I live out of state. We had to do ancillary probate for both him and my grandmother in New Mexico. There were 6 heirs involved, that drove up the legal costs. This took about 6 months and cost ~$7,500.
