I have a percentage of OMG rights for acreage in southern Ritchie county. I became aware of this in 2015 and last August contacted two production companies that have active wells on the acreage. One company was very prompt to issue payment for the accrued royalties. However, the other company has not responded to two letters I sent following my initial phone conversations with the owner. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Is there a WV state agency that I can contact?
Thanks
Paul
Dear Mr. Whitmore,
State agencies consistently do not help in this type of problem.
This is approaching a lawyer situation. I would, as business advice, recommend that you send a final letter to the owner saying that attorneys will get involved if they do not respond by xx date.
Best,
Buddy Cotten
Mr. Whitmore,
Mr. Cotten is correct that you are probably going to need an attorney.
There is one in Ritchie county that I can recommend, Scott Windom Windom Law Offices
There is another attorney in West Virginia, a member of this forum Kyle Nuttall
You can contact both of them and see what they say.
