I inherited: An undivided interest in and to a certain mineral permit, except oil, gas, coal and lignite, in Mineral Survey No. A-215, part Sec. 2, Blk No. 117, Public School Land, Claim “Cude No. 1,” of 20.66 acres, Culberson County, Texas. Can anyone tell me what type of mineral I inherited and where it is in the county. I’d appreciate anyone’s help.
It would be best if you provided a copy of the document. If it actually says “except”, then it would be all minerals capable of being transferred via the instrument with the exception of the listed minerals.
I do not have a copy of the document. In the will it was described as I wrote it out. I’ve never seen the term “mineral permit”. I don’t know what that means. Does it mean, I, myself have a permit to extract certain allowed minerals? Or could companies that are interested offer a lease? Do you know where it is located in the county?
I tried Courthouse Direct but they don’t offer Culberson County to search for the document.

There is something wrong with the legal description. TX General Land Office - Section 2, Blk 117, PSL is A-4438. There is no A-215 in Culberson County. Use TexasFile to search the deed records for Culberson County.

A bit of a new one on me, but the grant cites the specific document. It looks to be a grant into an interest in a mining claim. I would want to see the other associated documents with the chain of title to gain a better understanding of the grant.
I don’t have any other documents. Do you know where and what I could search online? That you for your help thus far.
You can go to TexasFile.com and look up documents for Culberson County. You would trace back to the previous Grantors to start establishing a chain of title. I am not aware of any mining claims of value in this area and that also falls outside my area of expertise. See if you can find any useful research related to mining claims of value in Culberson. TX General Land Office link for land grant. The pdf file is not scanned. You can contact GLO and ask whether the grant is still in effect and how you can get copies of the file. Maybe GLO research room in Archives division. Land Grant | Texas General Land Office
