Question from new mineral owner

I bought 80 acres(surface/minerals) about 2 years ago from family before it got to the point of having too many heirs to complicate it. Im not familiar with mineral ownership other than knowing that there has been leases on it in the past and fairly confident it hasn’t been drilled or had a well for decades. How would one go about finding that information? How would I find interested parties to lease it? Or, do they find me? I have no idea of the activity around there past/present or the prospective value of a lease or value of selling the minerals if one wanted to go that route. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The West Half of the Southeast Quarter (W/2 SE/4) of Section Twenty-six (26), Township Twenty-three

(23) North, Range Ten (10) West of the Indian Meridian, Major County, Oklahoma

Get familiar with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission website. That section has very old wells that have been plugged and abandoned. The only well that is still active is the Jacob Jantzen 2 oil well in the NW4 so probably not spaced for your acreage. If there is interest in leasing and your deed is properly filed in the county courthouse, agents will come looking for you. No leasing in that township in Major in the last two years.

Thank you for the information!
