After a permit is approved, what happens time wise. I read somewhere that in Texas if they don’t drill within two years the permit expires. Is that true? What are the odds of them drilling if they’ve gotten a permit? TYIA. Linton
Good afternoon Linton,
I presented this question to the RR Commission a couple of days ago and this is the answer I got:
From:Lorenzo Garza<Lorenzo.Garza@rrc.state.tx.us>;
Date:Friday, October 03, 2014 2:02 P M
To:Clint Liles<3toy@nctv.com>;
Subject:Drilling Permits
It is good for 2 years from the date of original approval.

Good Morning,
Was wondering how long a drilling permit is good for(months, years) before it expires.
Thanks,
Clint Liles
Hey, Clint, good to hear from you, as always! I’m really curious how many permits are approved and never followed through on. I’m sure a lot of times they wait until the last minute to drill. But I was curious if it’s a major hassle to go through the permitting process (I mean, we are talking governmental agencies here!) and if they’re more inclined to drill than to have to go through that process again, or if it’s just a matter of paying a little money and getting it repermitted so to speak!?
Linton my Friend,
Take this link and email your question to the RR Commission. They are always very helpful and prompt with a reply.

Guess I should leave out the part about governmental agencies, huh! Hehehe… Thanks. Says the web page is not available but I’ll try to remember to try again later.
Linton,
Email sent.
