Protesting ownership

By luck, I discovered thru the missing money site that I am heir to mineral rights that I didn't know the family had. My mother passed in late 80's and after legal battle with her husband about my mother's will, I was finally furnished with mineral right descriptions, and those were changed over to me. Long story short, he only gave me some of the mineral rights descriptions and evidently kept the rest along with the income. Last month I did obtain monies that had been held by the State of Texas and did get leases from oil company. While checking on past due property taxes, I discovered that the husband has claimed some mineral rights that went from my grandfather to my mother. These are also mine as her will stated she left her mineral rights to me. Any suggestions about how I can handle this situation as am not certain the cost of a lawyer would be justified. Please help as the man has had enough ill-gotten gain without getting more and I doubt if pursuing a lawsuit against him at this late date would be worth it, but I should be allowed to get back what is rightfully mine . Thanks AL

Al, I don’t have any advice, I’ll leave that to others, and am sure someone with knowledge will point you in the right direction. I just wanted to say I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s just not right for someone to steal what is rightfully yours. I wish you the best of luck with your pursuits. Linton

thank you - I am only attempting to find out what direction to go, what dept at oil company to contact, what would be needed for proof - if anyone has had to do this or anything similar, would appreciate the advise, thanks Al

There’s a site called Texasfile.com you might get some information from, you can print leases, etc., from public records in anyone’s name.

Al, what country are your minerals in… that you know of?

County??

mineral falls tx

Are you referring to Palo Pinto County?
