Property tax on mineral rights

I recently found out mineral rights are subject to ptoperty tax. I dont remember my mother ever paying property tax on her rights, just income tax when she had them leased. She just had them rights put in my name. When do mineral rights get prpoperty taxed?

You ‘DO NOT’ pay taxes on mineral rights in Texas…but you do pay property taxes on the surface acreage…you also will pay taxes on production from the mineral rights in Texas

Separate your mineral rights from the surface rights. IF you are being taxed on your mineral rights, then that means they are being produced currently. That does not mean you are getting paid. You better try to figure what is going on. Start by asking the Appraisal District in Leon County, Texas
