I get production data from several wells in the Permian Basin from the Texas Railroad Commission and Texas Comptroller websites. However, sometimes the production data on these two websites is very different even on the exact same well.
Why is the production data different on the same well?? (sometimes significantly different) I would think the production data on both websites would be the same.
If you are looking at oil, then the comparison is the RRC disposition volume to the CONG sales volume. If you are looking at gas, the produced gas volume will differ greatly. The raw gas has to be transported through the pipeline to the gas processing plant where the NGL (products) and plant condensate are separated and sold separately. Some of the gas volume is lost during transportation through the pipeline (pipeline line loss and fuel for the compressors to push the gas through the line) and more of the gas is consumed in the plant during processing. The NGL and residue (remaining) gas are sold separately. Best you can do is compare the reported gross sales revenues reported to the CONG to the gas, ngl and plant condensate on the check detail.
