Probability of a horizontal well

Does anyone know about the probability of the horizontal well that might be constructed? And the potential?

1/12 13N-23W has a permit for the Red Rooster 1/12 DM FEE COM 1H. Well was spud 6/27/25. I usually calculate a year from spud to money in the bank.

No current permit in 20/29 14N-22W, but there is a rig drilling 30/19 just to the west, so that is only a section away.

thank you so much for that info

Thank you for posting this reply! We had no idea a well was spud in Sec 1 where we have interest. No previous communication from Mewbourne at all. This forum is fantastic, and people like you who take the time to answer countless questions really benefit us all!

The well is listed as a DUC. Drilled UnCompleted . I just check the advanced search on fracfocus.org and well is not listed as fracked yet. That is a backdoor way to find out if it is completed a few months before being posted on the OCC. You can also watch the OK tax site to see when the well has been reported as “active”.

The Red Rooster well pad is actually in an adjacent section to the north of Sec. 1 & 12.

The surface location is often in an adjacent section. It takes about a 1/4-1/2 mile to make the turn, so they want to be able to shoot as many perforations as possible in the sections of interest starting just past the no-perf zones. There are no-perf zones along the section boundaries. That is to prevent drainage across the section boundaries.

I pretty new to trying to figure this all out. We have what I believe is around 80 acres in Roger Mills I believe it’s part of Sec 12-15-22? Is there activity in the area? Don’t need to sale but have offers. Looking for advice.

If you are looking at an older lease, the lease will have gross acreage, not your net acreage. Some families do have larger acres, but many families have fractionated acres as the original 80 acres was divided out among many generations.

12-15N-22W has a horizontal well already Diversified Energy -Dean Family 12-15-22 1H. I do see some recent leasing for additional horizons in the last 24 months. If you just inherited, make sure that you have contacted the operator to get into pay status. Also make sure that any heirs have filed their names and addresses with the county clerk of records in Roger Mills with any title documents such as a probate or deed.

There is a new “Cherokee” shale play that is developing all around you. You may get offers to buy which you can consider or ignore.
