Why are the pooling units for permitted wells near me calculated differently for a Marcellus well than a Utica well?? I’ll explain. For the Marcellus wells if any part of the drill touches a property, the entire acreage of the parcel is added to the pooling unit. For the Utica wells, they are only adding the actual acreage within the 500 ft buffer zone to the pooling unit. So 2 wells in same path… the Marcellus would have 600 - 700 acre pools, where the Utica will only have a 300 acre pool. Anybody have any idea why this is??
