Use the search function in the upper right to find the group, go to it, and set your follow options to follow and you will get emails on new posts. No joining required.
Collections of content on this site are organized into “Categories”, not groups. As @Wade_Caldwell notes above, using the Search (spyglass) icon in the upper right is your friend. The search results are organized into Topics, Members, and Categories.
Further, to most effectively use this site, it it critical to configure your personal notification settings so that you get notified of the topics/conversations which you are truly interested in.
More over reading the Get Started information will help you gain the most from this site. Highly recommended.
