Pennsylvania producers moving to TX, history of

I am working on a novel set in the 1950s and 1960s in which the main characters relocate from western Pennsylvania to Corpus Christi, Texas. I need to have a business reason why they would do this. They were oil producers in PA but production was drying up. Would there be a reason why they wanted to settle in Corpus rather than some other part of Texas? I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Talk to the Chamber of Commerce in Corpus and see what was going on back then. Or hit Wikapedia for a history of CC.
