Does anyone know if there has been any activity in the following area? My mom has 60 acres of minerals leased to Devon. Neither of us has experience in how to find out if drilling has commenced, and if so

  • what is the status?

S/2 NE/4 Section 3, Township 18 North, Range 1 West Payne County, Oklahoma

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Megan,

Not only has the well been drilled, it was completed as a horizontal well in the Woodford Formation. It is too soon to tell how good the well may be but it did show a nice bit of oil in the initial test and Devon is a good operator.

Help your mother get her title documented. I wouldn't rely on the lease but purchase agreements, wills, probates, etc. I expect there will be more wells in Section 3 as time goes on. I would also avoid entertaining offers to sell until you see some production payments.
