Owner #?

Is the owner # just assigned just when you have production or when leased? We recently had a lease supposedly expire, however a much smaller portion of adjacent property was re-leased last year for a pretty good bonus & royalty percentage. This is in Karnes Co. Tx. I sent in a change of address form & they responded with, Do you have an owner # & then said never mind here it is & sent it to me??? No royalty checks have been rec'd as of yet? Same company is having TXRRC permits approved recently, same county, same survey. Production, lease still in effect, & just no royalties yet is my best guess? Any ideas?

An Owner # is typically assigned once they have a producing well. Then depending on the company and location it varies widely how long it takes to receive your first royalty check. In my experience this has been as quick as two months to as long as eighteen months.

Though based on what you wrote I'd be more concerned to confirm the lease status of the larger piece you believe may have expired. You may have an opportunity to strike a good lease on it, if there is good production adjacent to it in the smaller piece. Good Luck.

That's basically what I thought, they don't give out information too freely. I'll try again to get an answer out of 'um. Thanks for confirming!

John -

I looked at your area once before for another landowner. You are in the dry gas sector of the Eagle Ford.

Even 'tho they are drilling wells, they may have pipeline construction issues to address before they can begin selling the gas. Gotta have a way to get it to market.

And they usually drill up an area pretty well before deciding where to build their pipeline.

Hope this helps -
