I inherited, in 2006, overriding royalty in 2 wells in the World West Strawn Unit in Crockett County. One of the wells was plugged in 2013, while the other shows to be “shut in”. I have contacted the current operator/payor, but the gentleman I talked to seems to be giving me the “run around”.
My question is, should I be receiving royalty from the Unit’s remaining producing wells?

My understanding is there are multiple wells(I think 35+, nonproducing and producing) included in the Unit. The RRC GIS mapping for Abstract 2947 shows 1 well is plugged and 1 well is “shut in”.
Should a portion of the production within the Unit be allocate to the Abstract I own interest in?

The two wells you are referring to do appear to be part of this World West Strawn Unit. As you have indicated, the one was P&A’d in 2015 while the other (which was drilled in 1959) has been inactive for years as you have indicated.
Problem with this unitized field is that the production is on its very last legs. The best numbers I can find show the latest posted MONTHLY production of only about 10-20 BO and 500-600 MCF of gas along with a few hundred bbls of formation water. .
This Strawn Reef field looks to be almost totally depleted since it was discovered in the late 1950’s. Since it is a “closed” reef feature, the depletion is like letting the air out of a balloon - and after 65+ years of production, this balloon / reef is almost entirely tapped out.
With such a low production total, monthly revenue checks for the various mineral owners in the unit will be very small - and in many cases, the operator has the right to not send out checks if they are under $100 per month per mineral owner. In those cases, all the small monthly revenues are then lumped together into a single check at the end of the year.
The ENVERUS database for this field unit shows over 200 individual royalty / mineral owners with variable small percentage interests.
You provided much more information than I expected. I am going to look into gaining access to the Enverus database, so I can get more information on the Unit and possibly see if any of my relatives(and myself) are listed.
The last division order my siblings and I have, dated June 2021, for the Unit is from Plains Marketing, with P1 Energy as the Operator. Two of my siblings haven’t changed their home address in over 10 years, so there shouldn’t be any reason their royalty payments should have stopped. We haven’t ever been notified by P1 Energy after they became the Operator and/or Payor. As best we can tell, it’s been 5+ years since our last royalty payments from the Unit.
My understanding is that the new Payor is required to notify all royalty owners at their last known address of the change.
Douglas, ENVERUS is an expensive subscription site. I would suggest that you dig into the Tx RRC site (free and public) to find info @ your assets in Crockett County.
Attached is a PDF print that I downloaded from the Tx RRC site for P1 Energy LLC’s reported production over the past year for the World West Strawn Unit.
Key here is the “disposition” or product sold per month.
As shown here, P1 is reporting that - in June 2026 - they sold 169 BO and 6240 MCF of gas.
Works out to 5.6 BO and 208 MCF per day
Works out to about $21,000 of gross revenue pre tax (assuming $70 oil and $1.50 gas).
The TX Comptroller records shows that Plains is still the oil purchaser. Many smaller operators will contract for Plains to pay the oil royalties on the sales. Either the operator or another 3rd party will pay the gas royalties. Have you contacted Plains to ask about the status of its payment of the oil royalties? Be sure to reference your owner number and, if possible, the last check date. Plains will tell you if the operator took the royalty payments in house. Or if a check was returned and so your account was placed in suspense. ET Gathering & Processing is the gas purchaser. Who was paying the gas royalties at the time of your last check? Are you still listed on the Crockett County CAD or Tax Assessor site as a royalty owner and are you receiving tax statements? If you have moved, the statements may be going to your old address. So check for both current and back taxes due. Have you sent a certified letter to the operator about the unpaid royalties (and any change of address)? Even if the total is very small, you should be receiving annual checks.
