Why would the operator buy my sister’s share and ignore our calls for documentation on what we own, like original leases?
If you refuse to ask the operator, then you need to be aware that the operator is very likely under no obligation to purchase a lease on your interest.
Did you ask the operator? If so, what did they say? If you did not ask the operator, why not?
Does the operator mean the company doing the drilling? If so, what if you can never get them on the phone and they never call back after leaving messages about our registered mineral rights and public contact information concerning the Logan County, Oklahoma acreage and four different companies drilling there? Thank you, Barb Gooch.
Dear Ms. Gooch,
If your questions are more than curiosity and if you feel as if a lease term has been breached, send a certified letter to the Operator requesting satisfaction.
If your question is of a more general nature, send your letter by regular post to the President of the company.
The original lease was up in 2011. A company called Ferrell wanted to buy the mineral rights for 2500 dollars when his uncle passed away in 2011, but my husband did not want to sell our rights and no one else contacted us thereafter. We received a statement from a company that sent numbers of how well their well(s) were producing this year (not less than 450 barrels a day this year) whom we tried to contact (also left messages to return our calls) without success, and then found that there were four different other companies with no reports sent to anyone (when we renewed the registration this year in Oklahoma registry listing our contact information) that we can locate, having wells also on this acreage. We contacted the attorney that his uncle left instructions to call after he passed away as there was supposed to be some funds being held over a 15-year period which involved something about a long-term lease agreement that expired in 2011. We called that attorney and the woman said there were state funds which were paid into a long-term fund and advised us not to sell the mineral rights but she said we would have to contact the different companies and talk with men that dealt with the companies and managed the leasing of who could do the drilling over those 15 years, as she no longer was involved. According to the uncle before he passed away the agreement was a direct agreement between the sons and daughters of Minnie Tontz who owned the land in Logan County and now with the uncle being the last son to pass away, they are all deceased. My husband and I do not have a clue how all this works nor where we should start to find the title of, or person(s) that can give us answers. We do have his dad’s papers from way back when about the land, a company we cannot locate either, nor do we know how to contact the state concerning funds they might be holding related to oil and gas rights. I do know that if the Canadian Pipeline comes down through the states it will come right through all of this area and everything will become under the NWO governing board and it becomes a no-win situation. Thank you for your assistance.
