Is there an agency in OK that has the responsibility to audit Operators for compliance with proper reporting and being genuine with revenue payments to owners? We find many of our statements from Operators have omissions that unless we find them and call them out certain royalties go unpaid.
There are statutory requirements in OK related to royalty payments. Short of a legal action or an OGL provision, a royalty owner does not have the right to audit. However, you do have the right to request the Purchaser to provide certain information supporting the check detail information. My standard practice is Trust, but verify. Good luck.
