Operator changed my interest

I need help. I contacted the operator and he said he had not paid me and told me to send him my deed. My interest then was paid by previous operators as .007812; now he changes it to .00007812. How does this happen?

Welcome to the forum.

When a new operator takes over, they will do an audit of the properties and the title. Do you have your old division order and copies of your old statements that have the higher decimal? It is possible that the previous owner was incorrect or the current operator is incorrect, just depends upon the title. Ask the new one for a copy of the paragraph from his title opinion that explains the decimal change. Ask for the equation that they are using to calculate the new amount.

Did your most recent check from the new operator drastically change from the month before? Some companies represent their decimals differently, when in fact they are the exact same interest owned.

He said he did not know I was even an owner—I sent him the legal description, also the deed. He told me in an email it was correct, sent me a check with the correct decimal but added the 2 additional zeros when he calculated it. I share the same interest as another owner, yet he left both of us out. He will not send me anything. I’m not sure how to read this deed, but it has been the same until he got it. I am looking to get this deed looked at and tell me the interest I own. Can you help?

I had not got a check from this operator - he said he did not know I was even on there. BMP used the decimal .007812. Modena used the decimal .007812. He has been on this for a while. It is a non-pool well - cannot add more acres to it. After I notified him my interest was the only one that changed, now I have the lowest because he changed it to .00007812. That is a lot different. I have asked for a copy from the landman determining this - he will not respond.
