Old mineral rights and leases

I’ve posted here one other time, but now I have a little more information and hope someone can help. Here goes, recently I became PR for some old (1929) mineral rights. We have been receiving royalty payments, but I had no information other than that. Recently I went to the court records and found about 8 O&G leases, and a mineral deed assigned to an oil company, but have been unable to find where the oil company has made any payments. So I do have the name of one oil company, but the other leases were from individuals who only used their initials with their last names.

So my questions are a) any ideas on how to find these individuals? b) how do I get the oil company to give me information on payments? Or if I’m asking the right questions at all.

P.S when I went to visit the land, there were gas lines on the property, so I’m thinking not oil but natural gas was the mineral. Thanks for any help.

What state?

If you have the lease information it should contain the location and section information for where interests are. i would use this township, area, and section information and search the web with this information. you should be able to find who pulled the permits to drill the property. This should clue you as to the producing company.

i.e. Township 140 North, Range 80 east, Section 12

Oklahoma is the state

Ok thanks. I think the company for one is Flag oil Co. The others will try what you suggest. Since it was so long ago, will that work. The royalty started in 1945.

On the leases you should be able to goto that county office and track from lease holder to lease holder as it was transferred… I back tracked mine from current back to original lease signed by great grandfather in 1944 for $1.00 a acre… Just FYI be nice to those court house people’s… They will go out of their way to help you out also…

FYI, Flag Oil Co. used to buy a lot of mineral rights as well. Also, I believe Flag Oil Co. through several mergers is now Devon Energy.

Texas Tea Thank you for the info. I have been able to find some info on the oil companies. My question now is can I get some good questions to ask. As one should be able to tell, I am walking totally blind in this process, and could youse all the help I can get.
