Discovered papers in my recently deceased Mother’s possession indicating she may have invested in some mineral leases in Gonzales County, Texas. This was apparently through HFS Investments Inc. and John W. Cook president of HFS (in 1981, in Cost, TX). So far have not been able to dig up any additional info on HFS or John W. Cook. Any information on where to continue this search would be most welcome. Thanks Robert Pritchard
Robert: I would contact the County Clerk’s office in Gonzales, Texas and direct your question to them. All mineral leases in Gonzales County should be on file at this location. You did not state what information this paperwork gives but this would be a starting point. Sounds like HFS is investment entity but maybe you can identify the operator using whatever info you have in this paperwork.
Have you searched the Texas Secretary of State website?
Thanks Wade

HFS Land Company purchased a lease in Gonzales County, Texas in 1981 from my mother-in-law. Their address was P.O. Box 207 Cost Texas 78614. John W. Cook signed the letter.
Thanks for looking into that Pete.
My mother’s letter was from 1981 also, small world

Robert,
If you can’t find them listed with the Secretary of State office they may be incorporated in another State. If you live close to the courthouse I can give you some ideas on how to track them down.
