Does anyone else belong to this? Have you registered your properties? Is there any benefit to becoming a registered owner. I keep getting solicitations to register, but I am not sure anyone else uses this. Anyone have any experience with this--good or bad?
Yes. I joined several months ago so that I would be "found" by any oil companies or other proper searchers. However, no one has contacted me--esp those that are filing drilling applications of sorts in the section we assert rights in Logan county, Oklahoma. However, because of Clint's timely filings previews, I have been able to secure the actual addresses and phone numbers of the companies involved and write them directly just to present my assertions. Dean Martiin is the senior landman that heads that up. So, long story short, even though Dean has been helpful, I have not, so far, been impressed by the site to be able to let oil companies, etc. "find" me. Anyone else with possibly more helpful information than mine? Doc B.
Yes, it's been useful to us. I can't verify if oil companies have used it or not, but it provides some data on lease values being tracked for counties, township and ranges. It also has a map of wells in areas. It's not perfect and neither is it as detailed as the BLM for getting the S/T/R, but it's a start for a quick search.
I am also a member and I don't think it is used that much by landmen but I did it because there were so many names involved that should they try to find me they could if they look there. Most have told me not to waste my money. It does have some databases on it that are fairly ok for basic information. I think it is a drilling database and have tried to use it but didn't have the info I needed to insert to find what I needed.
I belonged for several years and did not notice any increase in activity other than frequently being contacted by brokers wanting to purchase my minerals, which I know they have the right to do, but no thank you. Also, third party brokers offering totally unacceptable lease offers that they hope, in turn, to sell to and oil and gas company that will drill and hence the potential for them to make a nice profit. I've decided to not renew this year. But, I do not know how often landmen use this database.
Don't waste your time and money. They will find you if there is any interest in your minerals. I have been leasing since age 18 (68 now)and moved multiple times, and they always found me if they were interested in leasing
