Oklahoma Mineral Owner Registry Question

I get this sent to me every year but I dont feel like get $44 worth of information. What are your thoughts?

The Registry is a for profit group. The land men go directly to the county courthouses for their information as that is the legitimate recorder of records.

I gave a talk at a group of land professionals. The group consisted of land managers with companies, landmen in a company, the office guys at lease brokers and field landmen who check the records. I asked the group (of about 40) if anybody had ever used the Mineral Owner Registry. No one raised their hand. I then asked if they knew of anybody who had ever used the Registry. Again, not one hand was raised.

Thanks for the quick reply…won’t be sending them another check!

Best practice is to make sure that any name or address changes are recorded in the county where the minerals are and indexed with those legal descriptions. Should be a NARO ROAR news letter article soon.
