Okla Unclaimed Property Listing

While searching above website, discovered over 20 listings for my Wife’s family maiden name. Her grandfather and family members lived in the area at the time listed (1920s), however the first name is only listed as initials, none of which match known family members. I need guidance on how to proceed to track down the proper heir to the funds listed. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to post the maiden name?

Welcome to the forum. Your next step is to search ancestry.com and also try www.okcountyrecords.com to see if you can find the family lines in ancestry trees and in the legal records of the county. It is free to look on okcountryrecords, but you can pay to print records. I use the advanced search. Online records only go back so far, so you may need a landman to help at the courthouse.

In addition to Martha’s suggestions, I would suggest you call and talk to someone in the Unclaimed Property office. It’s possible they have the full names or can give you other information that might help you in your search. They can see a whole lot more than the small amount of info that’s posted online, and I’ve found them to be very helpful.

First, let me say thanks for all the intertest shown so far. Second, please forgive my ineptness on this topic/ Rules of the Road. Ive have done most of the things suggested so far with the following results. I have a copy of the original Royalty Conveyance dated 17 April 1923. The land in question is located in the old Three Sands field, 1/200 interest that was purchased from Emma S. Liegerot (early resident of Tonkawa). At that time, operator was the Waite Phillips Company. I also have a copy from OCC / Range Production Co. seeking Increased Well Density dated 10/09/2007. It also lists alll Respondents known / unknown. Ive been to ancestry multiple times without success trying to find a match for Surname with correct Initials without success. I feel certain the Waite Phillips Co. was in contact for at least a few years which, if the address was known, would fill in all the blanks. As I said previously, it might not involve wife, but i feel certain it involves a relative that could be made aware of the monies and allow them to take action as they see fit. Thank You

Waite Phillips is an oil and gas icon, Im not sure why you are looking for his address, him and his brothers are Conoco Phillips, worth multi billions in todays times when they died, their estates have been settled since the 1960’s. If you are looking for info on Emma, that will require a deep dive into her ancerstry, given that she lived in Tonkawa and your last know info is from 1920, odds are high she might be Native American which will make it much harder (Im a 1/16th native american and have tried finding out my ancestors to no avail) Good luck sir/mam!

Bob Yes, I’m familiar with Waite Phillips and his family. Also found all i need to know about Emma. What I’m seeking is the WAITE PHILLIPS COMPANY records / information. The company was sold by to Phillips Petroleum in the mid to late 1920s. Trying to establish if the records still exist and if access to said records is possible. If you have any ideas, i would appreciate hearing them. Thank you for your response.

Theoretically, Phillips Petroleum would have the files deep in their archives. You might contact the Division Order Department and see if they have title information for the tracts in question. Be patient on a response. You need to figure out if you are dealing with the merged ConocoPhillips company now.

Thank you. I wasn’t sure COP would still have those records. Now, the fun begins
