Does anyone know what the going lease bonus rate is for Matagorda county, TX. I was recently contact by a company offering 1/4 royalty and $50 per acre. Bonus seems very low.
Do you own the land and the mineral rights or just the mineral rights?
We own a fractional mineral interest. Oil company has offered $200 per acre.
Prices will vary across a county due to the geology, so you would need to give an abstract to help narrow down your area.

Well, this isn’t current and things have changed. Five years ago, we were offered $200/acre and negotiated a lease for $500/acre in Matagorda County. They never drilled.

Two years ago I received $275/acre for a mineral lease. I don’t own the land.
As I recall, we were offered more of a bonus for a longer lease —5 years
