My brother got an offer to sell mineral rights, which we all inherited equally, on acreage that was originally our grandparents’ farms in Caddo County, OK. My brother sold his, and the rest of us are wondering if we should sell as well. We have also been receiving court notices on one of the sections on horizontal drilling. Is that why we got this offer? Maybe we shouldn’t sell that section? We currently get small checks, so it seems we should sell rather than split this again to our heirs?
What section and township is it? We own mineral acreage in 10N 11W and there were 2 horizontal wells completed in the past year and another will probably be completed sometime in 2027. They are paying nicely especially with oil prices being relatively high for the moment.
