I’ve gotten two offers on 23-17S-1W in the past six months. Anyone know what’s going on? It’s been producing small amounts for years so surprised to get offers.
Not really any new activity out there. Someone is probably putting together a prospect to drill based on historical data. Maybe a zone that was previously missed. Looks like a good section to own in. You have any others in KS?
In KS, I just have more up in Greenwood Co, not here. Do they have to get a spacing unit approved by the state here? And allow force pooling? I don’t know much about KS! Thx.
These are normally 160acre leases or smaller, usually not less than 80. Units are not common in this area. Forced pooling very rare in Kansas from my experience. Greenwood County is a good one. Are your interests there producing?
Thanks for the info. I have one active producer in Greenwood, which doesn’t seem to be on this forum, even.
Greenwood is very remote. But very old production. Some good leases there. Definitely on my radar.
I need to get a runner to pull my deeds there and McPherson. I’m running off legal docs that are 60 years old! Those counties don’t appear to be online for deeds as old as mine.
Call the register of deeds and ask if you can order a copy of the index for your section, patent to present. Many counties will let you do that at a reasonable price.
I’ve twice tried with Greenwood and they twice told me to hire a landman. I might have better luck with McPherson.
Technically the records are public and by asking for a copy of a known document (like the index records for a specific section) that is not “research”, which is what some counties attempt to use as their excuse to not have to make you copies. Now if you don’t know the document you need, technically that is research and they do not have to look it up for you. You can always file your request as a KORA request - check that out.
